Basic 10 Series

90 MINUTES $175 ea

A transformative participatory experience of the manual manipulation of fascial soft tissue (connective tissue) of the body and how it relates to muscles, bones, and organs. Developed entirely by Dr. Ida P. Rolf the genius of the Basic 10 series as a systematic approach to organizing the human structure and integrating it into the gravitational field of the earth. Not only does this work entail a sequence specific recipe to unravel negative, disruptive, compressed, and inefficient patterning it also realigns and establishes the body in 3-dimansional space and the gravity field. Forces balance themselves with in the body and traumas are stored in the soft tissue. If you are ready to change how you operate and why, if you are ready to have a better relationship with your body giving you more integrity, strength, flexibility, mobility, stamina, fortitude, presence, clarity, and balance it is time for you to start The Rolf Method of SI. Approaching the soft tissue body from surface to deep, front, back, both sides, and then organizing and integrating the layers from the inside out.

Advanced 3 Series

90 MINUTES $175 ea

Later developed by Peter Melchior and Emmett Hutchins, Advanced SI work was the brainchild of Dr. Rolf before her passing in 1979. Post ten work as she called it was for the structures that were no longer completely random. Structures that have some sense of organization around a central vertical line. A year of processing is requested between basic and advanced work. The 3 Series is a recap tune-up with additional gravitational organizing prompters for both the pelvic grille, and shoulder girdle on the "Rolf Line". Work on the table, seated, and standing is achieved with one or two (four-handed work) practitioners. Rolf Movement & Aston Kinetics are incorporated into the sessions.

Advanced 5 Series

90 MINUTES $175 Ea

Just like the 3 Series, in the 5 Series our focus and intention are meeting the layer of the body the client lives in and responds from, relationship of layers, feeling movement, length, and integrity evoke through all of the body on multiple planes. Advanced work requires more responsibility of oneself in our environment calling forth new openings and perspectives from deeper layers. Post Ten work that incorporates 5 sessions in sequential order no more than 2 weeks apart.

Tune-Up

90 MINUTES $175 ea

A one off session tune-up for those that may have twisted an ankle, or caught a virus. Must be acute for tune-up efficacy. Phenomenal as a refresh after 3-6 months post 10 series. Not ideal for chronic holding patterns longer than 30 days or scar tissue treatment.

Rolf Method Movement &             Aston Kinetics Repatterning

60 MINUTES $125 ea

Functional movement integration & tensegrity repatterining. Sessions involve Yoga, Egoscue, Balancing, & Strengthening. Standing, Seated, and Floor work.

The rolf method of Structural Integration is an original, scientifically validated system of body restructuring and movement education. As the work progresses through the 10 series, new movement patterns are stablished, while the benefits of the work start immediately. As a person changes o the physical level, changes occur on the psychological level. With their bodies now having a higher energy content, the possibilities of their participation in life expand. To be enriched by the Structural Integration process is a new tool for humanity.

Decades ago, I heard of the amazing work Ida Rolf was doing with children who had cerebral palsy.  She was straightening their joints with a manual technique known as structural integration; no surgery, no serial casting, no braces.  Some time in the early 80s, I overheard some athletes talk about using structural integration to improve their sports performance.

After the effects of an auto accident, some sports injuries, and gravity began to take a toll on my posture, I began to wonder whether Rolfing could benefit my superannuated body.  Shortly after that, I met Leesa Gray.  During an hour or so conversation with Leesa, she was able to persuade me she may be able to help.  I am in innate skeptic and have many years of education, including a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy, so I was a hard sell.  Eventually, I had to see for myself what she could do.

I had heard stories of things that could happen under the stress of Rolfing/Structural Integration, but Leesa was a Rolf-trained practitioner with years of experience.  When she began to work on my most problematic areas, there was some discomfort, but it didn’t last long.  I did the exercises Leesa recommended and adopted her attitude of mindfulness.  I noticed changes after the forth treatment session.  Later as she began integrating the sessions, I noticed I could stand straighter with less pain, and perhaps my athletic performance had improved; although I have no controlled trials for proof, merely some subjective observations.  By the end of the treatments not only did the before and after photos show improvement, but neck pain I had suffered with for years had decreased by about 90% and a shoulder injured in a fall when I was 13 and a bike wreck when I was 60 no longer bothered me.

I wouldn’t recommend Rolfing/structural integration for everyone, but I would recommend that anyone who is interested in the process, discuss it with Leesa. She is professional, knowledgable, and tremendously talented.
